Detecting Calling Male Frogs above the Background Chorus Noise

Abstract

In this project, we created a computer simulation to emulate the conditions of natural choruses and previous playback experiments performed in the field. We also created a training program to employ machine learning techniques to improve the program’s accuracy. This project seeks to answer the question of how many males a female detects while sampling potential mates given a certain threshold and proportion of calls heard over a period of time.
