Growing Green Thinkers: Young Children's Concepts of Environmental Sustainability
MetadataShow full item record
This study examined young children’s views on nature, environment and trees as habitats through focus group interviews and student drawings. The research team first held a 10-20 minute focus group discussion with the students in groups. Immediately following the discussion, Author 2 taught a short lesson about trees as habitats (Activity 22 from the Project Learning Tree Handbook, PLT, 2015). At some point after the lesson, the children then drew pictures describing what they learned from the lesson. One week later, Author 2 returned for a follow-up 8-10 minute focus group interview .
