Health education as a strategy to enhance the quality of life of older adults, their families and caregivers affected by COVID-19 in Mercer County
Abstract
Abstract
Health promotion refers to the process of empowering individuals by increasing their control over health decisions, and it strives to improve overall health (WHO). In Mercer County, older adults struggle with mental health issues, malnutrition, and risk of falling and Lyme disease. COVID-19 pushed older adults out of senior centers, limiting their access to in-person and high-quality health education. Health education for older adults is relevant because it enhances self-efficacy and motivation to participate in healthy behaviors. When older adults learn about health, they feel more confident and secure. The objective of this study is to improve quality of life of older adults in Mercer County via educational workshops. A side mission is to identify effective methods for successful health education for this population via a systematic review.
