    Abstract
    Abstract
Jasmonic acid (JA), as well as its derivatives, regulate transcriptional and metabolic defense responses to herbivory (Onkokesung, 2010). AOC is an essential enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of JA in dicots (Stenzel, 2012). The maize genome encodes two isoforms of AOC (Borrego, 2016). The objective of this study is to assess the role of the AOC1 gene within the jasmonic acid signaling cascade in Zea mays.
