Abstract
This research provides an overview of current coaching literature. Although coaching is becoming a popular practice, the literature supporting it is scarce. This could be detrimental to organizations because coaching is being implemented, and often replaces more formal feedback processes, without practical evidence of its effectiveness. There are several types of coaching, but this research focuses on employee coaching, an ongoing process that involves feedback and provision from the manager with the goal of developing the employee and driving performance.
